Gabby's name & More

I asked my mom if she knew how Gabby got his name and she said said it was because he and his dad used to play cowboys and he always wanted to be Gabby Hayes. I guess the name just stuck.

Also, I always knew our Aunt Janie as Aunt Ludy! And my dad told this story over and over again so I know some of you guys have heard it. When Janie was a little girl they had a big pig named Ludy and that pig used to go thru the barnyard eating all the little baby chicks, so Aunt Janie was afraid of that pig. So anytime she didn't want to do something the others wanted her to do, they would tell her that old Ludy was going to get her. So somehow they ended up calling her Ludy.

oh, and if the reunion date isn't set in stone.....I vote for Sept. cause I can't come in July. But if the majority can make it then, I'll understand. Just want lots of pictures and stories. I would love to meet my cousins I've never met...Orrin, your stories are great. I would love to meet you and your sister Gail. I have met Sarah once and got lots of family history. I met Cory once, I'm sure he doesn't remember. I think he was about 4 year old. When I lived in Indiana and my parents come out to visit, we drove over to Chicago to see them. I have never met Diane or her sister (can't remember her name, man I am getting old...and no comments please). Anyway, would love to see everyone at the reunion.

I will share some stories about my dad soon....just still hard to talk about him without crying. Am crying now. So will chat later.

Evona, whether you can make it or not, we will all be thinking of you.
I appreciate that you are willing to share stories so that I can build memories, by enjoying a glimpse into the lives of some that have been called home before us.

love,
Orrin

Yeah! We got another story teller! I guess the gene has been passed on to you. Between my Dad (Uncle Jim) and your Dad (Uncle Pete), no story went untold! They sure did love to talk (and laugh) about family. But you know, compared to most, we really do have a neat family and I am so glad to be able to get together. I wish we could have started it years ago, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Thanks yaw for being MY family!!! God did me good!

Evona, I think most just couldn't make it in September, so I'll pray that the Mary Kay show runs into a "slight" glitch and post-pones their shindig for a later date. Lets see, I remember something about if two or may pray together........

Evona,

Ohhhh I was so excited to see that picture of Uncle Pete with the monkey! That is one of my absolute favorite stories of all time--I'm ordering a print of that and I'm going to frame it.

I really, really wish you could find a way to make it July...you know we have regular flights from Dallas to Jonesboro maybe you could make it in at least for one day. They won't have a meeting on July 4 will they?

Take good care of yourself and please keep blogging...it's sooo good to hear from ya!

Puhhlleeeezeeee! I would love to see you again. Of course, I could always just take a road trip with my roommate. Her father lives in Benetia. How far is that from you?
Please keep up the great stories. It gives us all such a warm feeling to be just a little closer to those we didn't get to grow up with. I am loving all of this!

Evonna, I realize how important your job is but will you leave this event feeling you have missed a very important moment in your life? We finally have been given a chance to unite as a family. As you know these times are hard to come by. Don't let this chance slip by you. You may miss seeing someone very important in your life.

You guys are killing me! Do you realize how bad I want to come. We have been talking about this for 3 or 4 years now. How can you have a reunion without me, right?? Okay, I'll try to sell a few more lipsticks so I can make it. Let's see, I make $6.50 off each lipstick so if I sell a couple of hundred, maybe that would do it. You guys are crazy and so am I so I'm truly working on it. Gotta be there. It's my goal. Soooo does anybody need a new lipstick??
