THE JUKE BOX
THE JUKE BOX. Nothing more cool than to get all the records at home after they were changed out of the juke box! BUT...what was even more fun was all the customers that wanted to "flip" for the juke box. That meant you and the customer would both get out a quarter. (Juke box would play 3 songs for a quarter). You'd both flip your coin in the air and slap it down on the counter. Then you would say "I'll match you...or...you match me". I wasnt' too good at this game....UNTIL my sweet little Mom took me aside one day and taught me how to cheat! Secret? You had to learn how the quarters sounded when they hit the counter. You let the customer slam his quarter first, and you LISTENED...then you would slam yours...same sound? You would say.."I'll match you" and then you would take HIS quarter and play some tunes!! If the sound wasn't the same...you'd say "You match me"..then you would take HIS quarter and play the tunes! I think my Mom was probably the Queen of flippin' quarters! Thanks Mom for teaching me how to "flip"!!

I asked Mom about that today. She got this far away happy look on her face and said, "yeah, I used to make a lot of money doing that."
A little voice in my head said, "Good Lord, my mother is half Doris Day and half Bonnie Parker."
Oh well...at least she's never dull.
wow, I never woulda thunk it, but there is a different noise between heads and tails... if you really listen!
just think of all the quarters I missed out on... hmmmmmmmmm maybe I can hoodwink the kids?
nah, they will likely spank me
