Well, thanks to Jodi's fast e-mail,I made it on.I'll be telling some funny stories as time goes on,but just ONE more about Diane.First I'll say that just like Cindy,Diane is a very good cook now, but,,,,when she had only been married a year or two and was just learning southern cooking, her husband Tim would just love Mam's country breakfasts. He asked Diane to make eggs, biscuits & gravy for breakfast. Now this is the honest to God truth; She made a nice thick gravy and fixed up the biscuit dough and cut them into individual servings and THEN she dropped them into the gravy for 45 minutes or so,and then SERVED them to him.He actually said they were pretty good, but he preferred Mam's and thats a true story.Aw,kids, you just gotta love em right?

mmmmmm, gravy and dumplings!

As far as the certified nut remark, would you mind sending me a copy of that certifcate? You know, just for historical purposes and posterity's sake. Being a family historian I am compelled to acquire as much documentation as possible!

Okay....hre's my cooking story: MY daughter was 17 and decided she would make her own bowl of soup (from the can) How hard could that be? Well, I heard this voice from the kitchen say (so serious) "Mom? where's the mark on the measure cup for a CAN". Needless to say, I sent her out of the kitchen. Later I tried to explain all she had to do was fill the CAN the soup came in with the water....DUH

Top that one!

Hey Gabby,
How great to see you on the blogg. I know so many were waiting and watching so hopeful, myself included. Miss you a bunch. I'm glad for the food stories, cause I've wanted for years the recipe for Fried Chocolate Pie. How long am I gonna have to wait for that. I know you are the only one that can make it right!. Come on now, send it on to me. ok. I remember when you made it for me when we lived in the same apartment complex in California. It was really to die for. Remember that era of time? And did I ever thank you for bringing out my sewing machine and the "PICTURE".
Love ya

Donna,I put my Choc pie response in another post, but anyway, I can never seem to get that recipe the way MOM used to make them, altho if anyone would know it ,it would be A.Ernie cause she can cook anything you could ask for .(no kidding) Now ,yes I do remember that sewing machine and oil painting.Altho I can understand wanting the sewing machine, but I cant understand why ANYONE would want a painting that was RIPPED.Go figure.:)

I remember you making those pies -- specifically in CA. Fried chocolate pies and omelette's! I did forget about Donna living in that same complex!

I have a lot of good memories from that time. 12 was a helluva lot easier than 40! :)

Hea yoy Donna, Don't give me a head ache. I remember most of all your trip back to Chicago, driving that stick shift dragging that ----ing U-haul. It's no wonder I am old and sickly.
Love ya (inspite of the trip)

We decided to go across the street for just one and a game of pool.Lost track and needed to get home and make dinner. I was married to an Irish Catholic like NO meat on Fri.in those days,I quickly threw a steak in the broiler and forgot to take wrapping off. BIG stink....
and GOOD FRI.too boot.
