Howdy folks,I havent been around for awhile so I thought I would bring ya'll up to date.Well,a couple of months back I went to work as usual, but didnt feel too well so I came home and Arlene took me to the VA hospital here in town.Well we went thru some tests and xrays and they found Colon cancer. Then I went in for surgery and it was a pretty good success in that they removed app 90% of it.Well today I went in again and they implanted a "port" in my shoulder and starting tomorrow,I will receive a chemo session every other week for 12 weeks. As I progress along I'll try to keep ya'll up to date as to how it goes.Enough of that.I hope ya'll had a great Christmas and everyone got the toys they wanted.Looks like aint Aud did.Congrats Sis on becoming a Gr.Granny.Congrats to you to Cathy.........Gonna go lay down awhile, not feeling too frisky right now.:)

You are already in my prayers Pops
Orrin
You've been in my prayers too Uncle G. Please let us all know how you're doing when you can.
Love,
Jodi
Hey Pappaw, thank you for the update. It is wonderful to keep everyone informed, straight from the source. If you remember the elderly (86) gentleman that I told you about, Fred Jenkins, I went to visit him the other day at the assited living facility where he lives. He asked me to play a couple of songs, so naturally I did. Pretty soon there were little old folks in walkers coming out of the woodwork into the lobby. I've never seen walkers go so fast on tennis balls! Well, needless to say I ended up playing the guitar for about an hour singing a variety of old tunes. They were really into it and I have to admit it felt great to see their faces all lit up. I think I'm going to make this a regular gig. No money though, but I do get chocolate chip cookies! It works for me.
Stay well and talk with you soon.
love you, Sarah
U r in our prayers too. I'm glad you put out the word. Things can get twisted by the time it gets around this gang! (but we do the best we can). 90% is good...and hopefully the chemo will finish it. You know Jack had triple chemo treatments, and then surgery. With 4 docs telling him he had "no chance" but the treatments would give him "a little" time, well, 4 years later he is still here-and that includes an accidental cutting of his main heart artery during sugery. No joke, they actually did that! I know we were blessed in many ways, and am praying the same for you. Jack stayed positive, but he had his down times. No one can keep from it....so when you're down, get on line and we will try to help you thru it. Chemo is tough but if you watch the foods you eat, get lots of rest, and stay positive I think you will do fine. Most people need to stay away from dairy products, eggs, milk, and sugar. He was also told not to eat green food-especially spinach (I think). And altho they want you to keep your weight up, don't forget sugar feeds cancer. I've got a great book about the type of foods to eat by a Christian doctor specializing in that. I'll send it to you if you want it ???? Jack AND my best friend that went thru chemo and got this crazy taste for orange gatoraid/poweraid. I guess it helped replace some of what the chemo takes out, plus it helps keep your weight up. Problem with Jack is he is STILL hooked on it and it has tons of calories! For some reason the orange flavor seems to taste the best.
You can beat this. You are too hard headed not to. Please keep us up-dated, even if things get rough. We can't support you if we don't know what's going on!!!
Love, Sandi
So sad to hear about the cancer but am so glad they got 90% and now the chemo can get the rest. I agree with Sandi, keep your attitude positive, it will make a huge difference. You will be in our prayers.
Love, Evona
