ODE TO GABBY

Just to let you know, if you can come, we will have a big plate of thick sliced bologna drenched in so much mustard it will make your toes curled, and we can run a video of the Orioles.

Do the arteries plug up before or after the toes curl?

Sandi said...

Doesn't matter...if the bologna doesn't get you, something else will! Down here, people buy those big sticks of bologna and just cut off hunks for a snack.

Debbey said...

Cloud wants to know if it's fried bologna.

If we're going to use all these southernisms let's not be pretentious and say "bologna" let's call it as we says it...BALONEY. Please though, let's stop there...no pigs feet, mountain oysters or rooster fries!

Jodi, Im afraid to ask........... but I will anyways...what are rooster fries?

and... how bout some fried tomaters and okra? mmm and zucchini

if we are on a lake for the reunion... maybe some of us can start fishin early and have a fish fry?

speaking of which.... do we know where the big gig is gonna be held? should I bring a tent? dang, I aint slept on the ground in a while...

hey Sarah, awesome pics you threw in the bucket... I havent seen those before! where did you find them? have any baby pics of me? I think the youngest I have found myself in a pic is kindergarten (das ist auf Deutsch)

Sandi, do you really expect us to believe you aren't clickin on our profiles? hmmm? do ya?

from what I have heard, you tell some talll tales!

Orrin, not tomaters-it's maters and if it's southern style you can bet it's fried.Sandi does tell some tall tales so check with me before you believe any of them.

Hey big bro...If by "sleeping on the ground" you mean staying at the Holiday Inn Express, count my family! That's as rough as we get...

Cory Ladd said...

Son of a b^&%&!! I Sandi'd!

Sarah Williamson said...

I"m with you Cory. My idea of sleeping on the ground is the first floor of the Red Lion next to the pool and Margarita bar.

Jodi, it is called Dog! And I wanted to run something by you, we could book Wayland Springs Camp. for a couple of hundred dollars, big new pool right next to the lodge, and a bunch of little cabins. I have to book it for the church soon, so let me know what you think.
Cory, what is wrong with you! Acting like Sandi, But if Jodi was a sport she would watch out for you.

I warned ya Cory, you hang around em long enough and you start talking and acting like them... then you start resembling 'em!!

Anonymous said...

Orrin, rooster fries are deep fried rooster testicles.

Jim, I'm trying to get an idea of who will be here when and for how long.

Cory, Jim might be right, look how much he has benefitted from being around us ;-).

Jodi

yep...and I actually ATE some rooster fries! (after a bottle of high priced wine). Kind of rubbery. I didn't like them. I guess everyone already knows about mountain oyster...and those I wouldn't try after 3 bottles of wine. yeeeooowww! Makes me want to go brush my teeth.

As for my "tall tales" I'll have you know they are TRUE tails. Debbey and Jimmie just have a way of remembering things the way THEY want too. You believe me, don't ya Jodi? (remember....you weren't in the tub with us so that doesn't count). Man, I gotta get on here more often and keep up with everything I'll have to get even with....not that I'm keeping score mind you.
Love, Sandi

Waylon Springs would be okay...but we would have to take a bunch of food up there. We would be very close to the spookey cemetary where a bunch of Ladd's ended up. I booked the old "Ladd's Cafe" for Thursday thru Monday ...thought we could get together there at least one day...and maybe meet for breakfast there at least once. We'll have to talk to Earnestine about cookin! What ever we do, I suppose it's time to get serious and make plans before everything is booked up. I don't have a preference...but I won't sleep in a tent. That's just not going to happen. There are some beautiful places to fish around Hardy--and other out door stuff. I'm sure Hardy will be having all kinds of stuff going on the 4th. (Hardy is right down the road from Waylon Springs). I would like to have dinner in the cafe one night and plan a "who done it" game. Then I want to ROAST Debbey and Jimmie.

I knew I shouldn't have asked, but curiosity got the best of me. Thanks Jodi, for enlightening me, and to you Sandi for making me want to skip breakfast. It sounds like hillbilly calimari (sp?)

Waylan Springs sounds great! Especially if its close to some of the old family sites, I would love to do some exploring. Should I be "packin" if wandering around in the hills? If so, Sandi wont be allowed to check it out! Where abouts is it? I'd like to find it on a map and start planning routes

Who is going to be in charge of food? It would be nice if we can figure out a per person cost and send some money down so that us travelors dont have to worry about that.

Now, being a Ladd and all, I am not much for braggin on myself, (quit laughin yaw) BUT if we are doing our own cooking, I have been told that I make some world class omelettes, and grill the best steaks and pork you've ever had. and yes, I even do dishes. I will be at your service.

Have we decided who is in charge of what?

Food (are there any No-Ways / allergies to worry about?)

Activities

Photo Archive of the Reunion(evidence / proof!)

Accomodations (what will we need to bring if staying in cabins?)

Maps of local attractions / Laddspots

Armed security to watch over the cabin that has all the booze in it... it's a dry county right?

Is there a main cabin or clubhouse where we will spend most of the time, or, being 4th of July will we be outside? Need lanterns and such?

I can hardly wait! Someone put me to work already.

Food- No Way: Rooster Fries, Mountain Oysters, Roasted Debbey's, Roasted Jimmie's, Buttermilk, anything with brains in it, no beaks, heads, feet, knuckles, knees, chitlins, collards.... alright, I'm just having salad.

Anonymous said...

okay then, a nice big Poke Salad for Sarah. How about some potted meat-it comes in a can so it's processed and high in nutrients.

Diane said...

Rooster fries and pig's feet?! I'm with you Sarah, add another one for poke salad! (ya know, we have alot of nice places for reunions up north!)

ps. wait a minute, what's poke salad?

Sandi said...

Poke Salad is some kind of leaf they pick they grows wild, (usually around ditches!! LOL) None for me either thank you! Hardy (& Waylon Springs has tons of stuff to do/go). I'll contact the Chamber of commerce for brochures and schedules of things. But we DO have to meet in Bay at least once!!!
Orrin...aren't you the "prepared one"??? So you're signing up for cook? sounds good to me. Jodi, we will leave it up to you to assign people. *I think Jodi isn't feeling too well. Mom told me she had a "bug". We get lots of those down here.
Oh...if yaw come to Bay, we could have one of the Gin's show yaw how cotton is processed. Course there won't be any ginning in July, but the kids would probably like to see the machines & stuff. September would have been ginning season, but yaw would be so full of snot from the cotton dust you'd probably leave early!! Hey...has anyone emailed photo's to Dylan? He's waiting ya know! (I gave mine to Jodi to send....took the easy way!) Thanks Jodi.

Orrin Newton Ladd said...

Awe geez Sandi, I was just volunteerin to help out, unless ya want omelettes all weekend!

Sandi said...

Okay...I'm sure there are MANY ways to make an omlette! Actually, Jodi and I have discussed food and how to make things simple. We will get together on it real soon and post the suggestions. If we meet for breakfast in the old Ladd's Cafe, I bet we can get my Mom to fill us up with the best morning food ever, and she could use some help in the kitchen (even tho she always does it by herself) I think she would have fun sharing the kitchen. Course I haven't asked her about this yet! Mom? Are you reading this?
Love ya!

Cory Ladd said...

Don't listen to them, Orrin! Not EVERYONE can make a good omlette! And as I recall, our Dad was known for his omlettes! And fried chocolate pies.... If it's fried, and didn't come out of the sea /lake / ocean....I like it!

I will seriously be disappointed if I don't get biscuits & gravy at least twice! Ideally with fried taters....a ton of bacon or sausage.....I swear my mouth is watering right now!!

Sarah Williamson said...

Bicuits and Gravy!!!! OMG that is my favorite breakfast, period. I will definately help out in the kitchen in any way I can.

Sandi said...

Good! I'm printing these comments and they will be used as legal documents.

You guys are so funny. We have biscuits & gravy at least once a week and fry anything we want.At any time we want. We go through fry daddy's like they are disposable. Mom even has a double fry daddy. In fact she rubbed it in one day. Cloud still laughs because she said "do you have a deep fryer?" so I said yes and real quick she said "DOUBLE BASKET?!" We do take frying seriously.
