We All Spent the Evening in Storm Shelters

Well, MOST of us spent several hours in storm shelters tonight. We had some really bad storms come thru. The Community Safe house was packed, but we were lucky that the bad stuff went around us. Some damage was done, but nothing like they predicted. Memphis got it pretty bad, but Debbey and Cloud are okay...at least the last time we heard from Debbey they were. She said there was damage all around them and she and Cloud were huddled in the closet til it settled down. As far as I know, everyone is safe. Thank goodness it is all over for the night. We are all pooped! Hope everyone else stayed out of the path. Now we gotta catch up on the primary news. What an excited life!
Love, Sandi

I was talking to Jodi, as I drove home from a meeting -- we had freezing rain so it made the roads pretty crappy. Then I called late last night after what you guys got. Suddenly, snow ain't so bad!

I'm really glad to hear everyone's alright.

we have the same storm system tracking thru here Cory, my normal 1 hour commute was extended to 1 hr 45 minutes this morning. Good thing I left at 5:10 a.m. Weather advisory till after midnight tonight.

One of these days, I'm gonna throw that snow shovel in the trunk and head south. And I wont be stopping till I can open up the trunk and folks say, "What the heck is that?!"

Cloud's back just to say i was not huddled in a closet, i came out of the closet years ago! and swore i'd never go back. kinda like on Jaws when Quint said he would never wear a life jacket again!
but i will say that when i got home Debbey had informed me that she had clean out the closet. this really didn't phase me because she is always cleaning out something.
after standing outside watching the storms and having a cocktail i needed to releive myself, thats when i noticed the closet was bone dry except for a bag. i looked in the bag only to discover all of my pills, a bottle of advil and a can of Mt Dew and a can of Pepsi. what a survival bag i thought! Although afer the storm passed though we did check the closet for size!

All for now, looking foward to meeting everyone!

So, what happened after you relieved yourself in the dry closet?

Hey Cloud, did you watch the storm in your BVD's? I personally know you like to stand in front of the window that way! Caught you there on more than one occasion. Man, yaw should have seen him one morning after the storm and he noticed his Bradford Pear trees were down! It was a sad day in Memphis :(

Orrin....I PROMISE it's not me! I'll have a talk with my temp tomorrow morning tho. I have noticed the filing has been piling up. But just in case your wondering....it's Orrin's 700 to Sandi's 1,000. ...just in case that is!

Well Sandi, I think it's your sparkling smile that draws them in droves.

I typically prefer to relieve myself in one of Lisa's dresser drawers...if we're in a hotel, any corner will do!

Man I gotta lay off the booze....

lay off of the booze? no way, do you know how many people we keep employed? Grey Goose would go out of business with out me.

I'm just getting the opportunity to read the blog this week - and by the way, guess what we did during the storm, Jodi??? Yep, we sat on the front porch and watched it. We watched the line of storms on the radar go across the state, and made notes of who to check on, but since we weren't getting tornadic activity in LR, we just decided to watch it come in looking like a spooky Halloween movie outside, watch the lightning and hear the thunder get closer and closer and then huddle close to the house and watch the rainstorm. But, I promise, if we thought we were getting bad storms, we would have taken shelter. (promise - we have closets too)

I also got to be in St. Louis over the weekend so I saw snow!! First time I've seen that much in several years - about 7 inches. It was especially pretty as the plane took off and I could see it all around, but knew it was not going to be there when I got off the plane in LR.

I love watching thunderstorms too Vicki.

I remember when Julaine was 4, we lived out in the country and she wanted to go outside and play in the backyard. There were far off rumbles of thunder... and I took that opportunity to explain to her how if she ever got caught outside and there was lightning and thunder.... and the hair on her neck started to stand up, it was because of the electricity in the air and she needed to get down on the ground and spread her arms and legs (now they say to curl up in a ball)...

anyway... not 1 minute later she had just walked off the deck when a HUGE bolt of lightning went off, with a very loud report of thunder...

poor Julaine... she spun around and took one big leap and tripped on the 2 steps of the deck, then sprawled out on the deck, spread eagle, shouting "Help me Daddy!!"
I shot thru the sliding door and picked her up and hugged her tight, she was so scared, and tho I was laughing a little bit, I felt soo bad for her.
